About Me

Hi, my name is Kierra! I am a licensed educational psychologist, school psychologist, and founder of Sunset Educational Psychology. I strive to help my clients access learning to the best of their ability, whether that’s learning in school or on the job. I serve children, adolescents, and young adults who are experiencing various challenges along their educational or vocational paths. Some areas that I support include anxiety impacting learning, social challenges, LGBTQIA+ support, school avoidance, school transitions, homework refusal, and executive functioning. I have experience working with clients who have special needs including autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, selective mutism and more!

In my practice I utilize cognitive behavioral strategies to create specific goals and measure progress. I also draw from mindfulness practices, play based therapy, and systems theory to provide well rounded and individualized supports. For my younger clients, I work closely with families to help generalize the skills learned in session to home and school environments.

In addition to direct services, I also provide consultation services for families, educators, and schools. These services may include helping to develop crisis management strategies, reviewing evaluations and providing feedback, educational planning, staff development, IEP/504 support and more.

I am also the author of a book titled A Kids Book About Learning, which I wrote to encourage all children to feel like capable learners regardless of their unique strengths and challenges.
